A RELAIS & CHÂTEAUX AT THE SUMMIT OF THE ALPS
Wake up facing the peaks of the Haute-Tarentaise in one of the 76 luxurious rooms and suites of this snow-covered Relais & Châteaux. Les Barmes de l’Ours owes its name to one of the Tarentaise glaciers. In Savoyard dialect, ‘Barmes’ refers to the ‘dens’ of the bears, kings of the mountains. Our large cocoon of wood and stone has been designed using noble, authentic materials and an original interior design by the incomparable cabinet-maker and poet Christophe Mattis. Luxury, calm and serenity: at the foot of the majestic Rocher de Bellevarde, just a stone’s throw from the town centre, the hotel is also home to a monumental 1000m2 spa, a haven of relaxation associated with the prestigious Sisley brand.
In 2023, Les Barmes de l’Ours celebrated its 20th anniversary as the most beautiful setting in Val d’Isère. In April 2024, Les Barmes de l’Ours was awarded the prestigious Clef Michelin, a new distinction in the Michelin Guide, recognising it as an establishment that ‘places the art of entertaining at the highest level and contributes to forging unique experiences’.
